This technique of having a lead in works best to warm the guy into the scene and despite any guy saying they dont need warming up, I dont know what guy, no matter how gorgeous a girl looks will just get hard and start pranging away with his cock.

That wouldnt make for a very dynamic and satisfying scene either. Furthermore, this clip looked too contrived and well out of context to the bickering and friendly one upmanship that makes their scene much more interesting than just watching a straight sex scene

Our latest behind the scenes footage was actually one of the first I shot as a test to see if it worked. Its not easy being a one man show. Its from this that I devised the method I deploy now and that is one camera set on wide, another with the Contour HD as my POV cam.

I’ve resisted the idea of using another cameraman to do this because just by having another person there would alter the intimacy of just myself being there. I try to focus on the personality of the couple but when you have someone else on board then it feels like the show is about the personalities of those shooting. I know this because I’ve done it for many years working with my old partner in porn Johnny Rebel.

The good thing about this behind the scenes stuff is that you get to see what really goes on during the photoshoot. Conversation taking stills is a lot different from shooting the actual scene and  you get more personality  which sounds confusing really when you think they are already on the job, but thats the thing. Its behind the scenes of the actual video shoot. This is the warm up.

I used to hate shooting stills because I thought it robbed the main video of any spontaniety but I’ve learned over time to see it as a rehearsal for the main scene and find out what a couples weaknesses and strengths are with performing and where possible, make suggestions but the more observant among you will notice that sometimes the video does veer off course from the stills.

The result is always the same though. If the BTS (behind the scenes) proves anything, it looks easy shooting a porn video but its hard to make a good one which is why people skills is very esential. One can get so tied up in the technicality of making a video that you forget to deal with getting the best out of the people who are making the video. I like to think I get good results most of the time.

This video was unusual for me in that it was shot in a studio in East London, only because Holly and Loco booked it to shoot their own stuff  after we were done. I don’t like shooting in studios under studio lights because it takes away the reality aspect of what I am trying to achieve but in this case it was ok because it was part of that reality.

For the first time since I started shooting for Real Couples I have to admit defeat. There was no saving the shoot that was meant to happen on Sunday 7th August.

No option was available to me to even salvage the day with a solo shoot or a homemade shoot. We came so close but yet it was not meant to be….

The day started out promising enough. Clear blue skies and sunny as I drove down to Brighton, stopping off on the way for a Burger King at the services on the M23. It was here that I thought I would call the couple (who shall remain nameless) as I didn’t receive a response to my earlier message when I had set off.

Whilst I was driving I received a call from the boyfriend that they had a bit of a domestic which was an undertstatement given that it followed that he was sitting on the doorstep with his clothes in a bag after she had thrown him out last night.

I was only 10 minutes away so I decided to go the rest of the way and see where this was going. I arrived to be met by the girlfriend naked except for a towel to hide her modestyat the door. Shes no stranger to me as she has featured on the site before with a previous partner some years before. She had just got out of the shower and she told me what was going on and that the boyfriend was on his way over and when he arrived there was a tension in the air between them as I caught her flashing him dirty looks.

I made it clear that I noticed what was going on but didnt rule out the shoot actually happening because I have been in similar siutations in the past where it looked like all hope was lost and it ended up being a better than expected shoot. It also helped that the pair were in the adult industry as this is where they first met and have been together for about a year already so I was banking on them being professional. In other words, to just get on with it and get paid. I could still say this was real because of it but it seems that when it comes to human emotions, money doesnt mean a thing where professionalism is concerned and I can understand and respect that.

We began the photoshoot and things looked a bit better as they warmed towards each other sexually but it was the snide comments that had me commenting to the girlfriend that she was making things difficult. Now before the ladies out there think this is some male solidarity thing, bear in mind that if this was coming from the bloke I would’ve said the same thing to him as well.

In fact, given what I know about the guy from my short time there, it seems he was a good guy who didnt need to put up with the hositlity he was enduring and was only doing so because I believed he genuinely loves her but it seems the sticking point between them is she wants him to give up the shagging other women for porn movies but the dilemma for him was they met in the porn business and nothing pays as much at a time where it is diffuclt to get work. Still, he was prepared to give up for awhile but things didnt work out and just got worse.

We made it through the picture session and was at the point we were ready to start the video and thats when things took a nose dive.

They started off well enough and spent a considerable time just kissing and speaking in hushed tones which I thought was ok given the circumstances and it was when he went down on her it seemed she was getting into it but kept closing her legs, and while filming I gently moved her legs aside still filming so I could see what the boyfriend was doing but after awhile I detected the mood was getting a bit weird and thought I had better stop touching her leg and moved back a bit when she suddenly said: “I cant do this!” then looked like she was about to burst into tears!

It was as good as game over at this point but while I was trying to be sensitive to the situation I had also travelled from North London to Brighton expecting to get a shoot and after awhile I tried to salvage the situation by asking to film it for my documentary and even then the girlfriend was not interested, which, again I found understandable.

We stuck around for a bit as things got more emotional when she told her boyfriend to leave and demonstrated it by packing his bags and throwing him a punch in the face! At this point I thought it was wise to leave because I didnt know how much tolerance her fella would have before he started meting the same back and I dont think it wouldve been good to be caught in the middle of that.

I didnt leave empty handed but I dont have paperwork to use the material so I am hoping if things change between them that the option is still there to continue the shoot but here we are a week later and its looking very unlikely

Why did this have to happen on my watch? This is the first time I have witnessed a break up on the day of a shoot. Thankfully I’m informed these outbursts were a weekly occurence so I suspect there are some issues there that doing a video for a website cannot fix.

I guess this is what is known as an occupational hazard

Well, after the disaster of a shoot that didnt happen left me coming home from Brighton empty handed last Sunday I had to come back to London and watch the news about the riots that kicked off in my home town of  Tottenham.

I had to deal with an email from a model from my other site about removing scenes she appeared in. Which is numerous to to say the least and running into the thousands of pounds which she earned from me doing so. This was round two spanning over a few months from when she first brought it to my attention that a colleague found a scene of her that belonged to me and that he used it to get her fired. I still have no proof of this particular scene and whether it is mine or not as she didnt give me any links and seems to avoid telling me despite the fact she has worked for several other producers as well. From what she told me it sounded like sexaul blackmail.  She resisted his advances and he used it to fucke her over which is entirely out of my jurisdiction really.

This was round two. She was not happy until I removed all the scenes despite telling her it being a waste of time whilst the scenes still existed on file sharing networks and tube sites. She seems to think that it being on my site thatthose outlets will still come and get itif she has it removed. I dont think she understands how filesharing and tube sites work. She lost any future support from me when she made a veiled threat about taking legal action against me with a “lawyer that takes newspapers to court and wins everytime”. I had her name changed which was a stage name anyway but in truth I have nothing against the girl and nor was it my intention to ruin her life except she seemed to think accusing me of being all about the money was supposed to appeal to my conscience. I guess it was ok when she took the money that was paid to her for those scenes but somehow begrudges me making money on it 10 years later citing I should do so out of  “good will”. Why? Shes not my friend? I haven even heard from her in years and now she springs up 10 years later asking me to remove content (that I legally own) and threatening me legal action.

Mmmm….She should consider herself lucky I even had her name changed.

Come the Monday I was the cameraman for a content shoot for Eden Mayhem that was to be filmed for Channel 4′s upcoming season two of The Joy Of Teen Sex (see a show here)  presented by a girl called Billi who was on set to film Eden Mayhem taking it up the arse for a special on the subject. They cant show it but they still have to filmit even though they arent shoing it. I said why dont they just fake it but they said they cant. Poor Billi has to see it. This show I am told is going to be heavily promoted on its run up to its broadcast in November. No doubt the phone will be ringing off the hook with people that see me on it. Might be a good time to book that holiday

I agreed to it though I wasnt entirely comfortable with it because I mainly shoot for Real Couples these days  discussing the aesthetics of anal sex outside of my usual genre but I was helping a mate out as a favour and plus meant to be getting paid too but the stud couldnt manage the wood required for the bum fucking so they opted to interview on the basis of how hard it is doing porn shoots. mInd you the conditions the performers had to work in didnt lend itself to a hot scene either. We shot in a house under construction on a sofa that smelled of piss. Not exactly a very romantic situation to get your groove on really is it?

I got to chat to Billi who is the presenter of the show. Apparently she was cast her on the basis of this dead pan approach to  shocking topics.  She did seem indifferent watching us shooting the sex scene which might have partly been responsible for why Andy was struggling to get wood…Or secretly he was probably thinking about shagging her and not focussing on Eden. There weree too many distractions. To make matters worse we had to consider the real possibility of the weekends unrest with the riots was coming this way to Barnet but thankfully, a smashed window to a mobile phone shop on Barnet High street was about the extent of it as the police arrested most of the 60 plus people that tried to start the ruckus and dispersed the rest

Tuesday came and the destruction I was witnessing on TV was rivalling the full scale destruction of the american bombings of Iraq!

All day I  was being fed links to facebook pages of idiots wanting to meet up at McDonalds at 8, presumably to get a burger in before  kicking off for the evenings entertainment of rioting and looting. I was disgusted, angry and fuelled with paranoia for my family so I dug out my base ball bat and waited until the evening when the adrenaline was kicking in for expectation of the violence coming my way. I took a trip up to the street where the local Waitrose was boarded up. The officers allayed my fears by telling me to go home, relax, put my feet up and watch TV. I even got a personal message from the mayor of Barnet telling me not to hype the BS

Thankfully nothing came of it and I had a few drinks to calm my nerves before continuing the never ending job of editing the latest updates for Real Couples. My latest edit was a pain in the arse because I had to track matte a mosaic mask over a picture of the performers daughter on the wall which I absent mindedly didnt pay attention to at the time otherwise I couldve made life a lot easier by simply removing it.

After hours I am reading books on HDSLR photography getting ready to shoot a short  movie for a friend in October.I also learned another short movie I worked  on doing sound was accepted into the Tacoma Film Festival

WednesdayI met up with friends in Waterloo for eats and to watch Super 8 at the IMAX cinema. I love that cinema. Its a bit over the odds pricey but well worth it to watch those special movies which sadly, Super 8 was not. It was good but I felt it was a mash up of Spielbergs earlier movies through the years all mixed into one. Maybe it was a homage from JJ Abrams the director but still, I wasnt really feeling it

Thursday was a day off looking after my kids as the missus had to go and work on the jiggly TV stations and trying to edit later in the night after they had gone to bed but I was too tired so I did it on Friday and got my updates out in the post as well as prep for my shoot with Zarina Massood and Jay which was happening on Saturday. I had to confirm the shoot was on after the riots kicked off in the Salford area of Manchester. I didnt want to chance being stranded up there or having my car burned out but it turned out the rioting ceased because of the rain! These rioters and looters are such pansies and it proof that it had nothing to do with the shooting of a bloke in Tottenham the previous Thursday.

Saturday morning I slept through the alarm and left a couple hours later than expected to arrive at my shoot about 1pm (2 hours later than intended) but given the results of the day I need not have bothered but thats the risk of doing any shoot involving people youve never met before. Reality gonzo is unpredictable in that way. I took the opportunity since I was up that way to visit a cousin I havent seen in a while which was a fun way to end the day after another 2 hour drive back where I got home after 1am in the morning after being stuck ina traffic jam to dump the footage onto hard drives to archive for future editing

Went to Manchester to shoot Zarina and Jay at their home in Altrincham. They seemed a nice enough couple
but for some reason Jay was struggling to get wood shagging his missus.

I have to remind myself that this sort of thing comes with the territory of shooting reality based series. I’ve heard he was good on other shoots but I guess it was meant to be that it’s my shoot he wasn’t to be so good on.

There could be several reasons for this but without knowing them I dont know for sure and frankly, not interested really

The shoot was what it was and no less real for it. They admit to escorting as a couple and used to be swingers and still have threesomes so they have a colourful and adventurous sex life.

Jay admits to being bi which Zarina Is turned on by and I suspected he may be a voyeur and probably needed visual aids. Where is a third guy when you want one eh?

Maybe that has something to do with it. Maybe not but all I know is whatever reason (because there is always a logical reason for everything) it turned out being what it was.

Jay did admit to not being comfortable in front of cameras but then if that was the case, why go through with doing a shoot that required video and stills. Its a bit like being scared of heights and doing and agreeing to do a bungee jump.

They fulfilled the requirements of the shoot (only just) but it should be ok with editing but there is nothing I can do to replace that real passion and heat that was missing.

My verdict is: He struggled because he was probably tired or there was something going on between them and their relationship. It’s weird how porn shoots can expose flaws

As far as I’m concerned, the best thing about the shoot was the interview where I think it gives more clues to them and redeems them as a couple as you have to expect some nervousness meeting someone for the first time but it would be dismissive to assume anything without really knowing them as a couple.
